Local Company Research

Arcus animation studios, Newcastle

Arcus studios are an animation company based in Newcastle that has a team that consists of 6 artists. Their logo is an orange airship which matches the rest of their site's colour scheme of orange, white and black. There is not just one single style to the animations at Arcus Studios which is great as it shows the range of talent that the animators have but also gives each animation some extra character. Arcus have had some pretty big clients in the past such as CBBC and E4 but also do work for more local clients such as Alvino's bar in Newcastle. The studio have worked on many projects just for themselves but also many for advertising and art installations across the north east.
Pitbull Studio, Sunderland

Pitbull studio is a Game design company with 3 studios based in the north, south and midlands of England. The studio has a big team with 43 people in total, The team includes a variety of people who have different roles such as programmers, artists and management. The studio's logo is very relevant to their name and matches the main dark colour scheme of their website of black and white. The website itself is very eye catching and professional looking as many of their pages have high quality animated backgrounds. The studio has mainly collaborated with other companies such as Epic Games and Vatra Games, normally helping out with: fixing performance issues, helping develop software and providing artwork. Pitbull Studio have produced an original game in-house called "Circus Challenge" which was developed as a rehabilitative game for adult stroke victims and children with hemlplegic cerebral palsy, and in 2012 the studio won the NHS innovation of the year award for it.

 Bloom Studio, Middlesbrough

Bloom Studio is an animation and VFX studio based in Middlesbrough and has a small team of only 4 people, all of which are pretty young and are all graduates from Teesside University. Their logo is simple but quirky and is quite a contrast to the black and white of their website. Bloom studios have a wide variety of skills they use to create their visuals such as: 2D and 3D animation, VFX, Tracking/Matchmoving and particle effects. For this reason, Bloom have many different styles of work produced so it can be hard to recognise work as theirs sometimes. The studio has worked for many different clients such as Virgin media for their 2014 April fools joke, Dominos pizza to advertise their charity event and they made a number of channel idents for the new local TV channel "MADE TV".
